Strategy
Attention is not a strategy. Here is what to do once you have it.
Going viral is exciting. Building a business is different.
Views are not revenue
Views don’t pay invoices.
Customers do.
Many businesses spend enormous resources chasing attention but have no system for what happens after people discover them. Attention without direction is wasted opportunity.
Build a journey
Every piece of content should move someone one step further along the same path:
- Know you exist.
- Trust that you are competent.
- Make contact.
- Buy.
If a post does not advance one of those four, it is decoration.
Don’t chase algorithms
Algorithms change.
Trust doesn’t.
Chasing format changes puts you permanently one step behind a system designed to keep you there. Focus instead on becoming the obvious choice in your category, which no platform update can take away from you.
Create systems
Attention arrives in bursts. Systems are what catch it:
- Content that runs to a rhythm, not a mood.
- A website that answers the questions a new visitor actually has.
- Email that stays useful between purchases.
- A CRM that remembers who is in the conversation.
- Follow-up that happens whether or not anyone remembers to do it.
Without systems, attention arrives and then disappears, and you start again from zero next month.
Final thoughts
Attention is the beginning.
Not the business model.
